NASRETTİN HOCA VE KAYIP EŞEK

ZEYNEP - ŞEHİT AHMET ÖZSOY İHO

One day, Nasreddin Hodja mounted his donkey and set off to go to the village market. As always, he became lost in thought and found himself deep in philosophical reflections along the way. While on the road to the market, he suddenly looked behind him and, to his surprise, noticed that his donkey was gone! The donkey had vanished as if it had disappeared into thin air.

Nasreddin Hodja immediately started looking around, but no matter what he did, he couldn’t find his donkey. He began thinking to himself, “Oh, where could my donkey have gone?” Then, all of a sudden, he stopped, looked at himself, and burst into laughter.

Hodja returned to the marketplace. When the villagers saw him like this, they asked what had happened. Laughing, Nasreddin Hodja said, “My donkey is lost, but my mind is still with me. Apparently, I sent the donkey to the market ahead of me.”

The villagers looked at Nasreddin Hodja in astonishment. Hodja continued: “A wise man chases after what he is looking for. I forgot to search for my donkey because I thought I was the one who was lost!”

Upon hearing these words, the villagers started laughing and admired Hodja’s cleverness. Eventually, Hodja found his donkey and continued with his shopping at the market. But that day, everyone in the village talked about Hodja’s wise story.
